How to do Bulgarian Split Squat — animated demonstration

How to do it

  1. Stand a short step in front of a bench or sturdy elevated surface.
  2. Place the top of one foot on the bench behind you and keep your front foot planted flat on the floor.
  3. Brace your core and keep your torso tall with your hips square.
  4. Bend your front knee and lower under control until your front thigh is near parallel to the floor.
  5. Press through your front foot to return to standing without bouncing off the back leg.
  6. Complete the desired repetitions, then switch sides.
